What is a shin splint?

A shin splint is generally pain felt along the front side of your lower shin. Usually caused by intense physical stress on the shin, shin splints are common in runners who are just starting out or are increasing their workout routines. 

 

Can you prevent a shin splint?

There are many ways to prevent shin splints. Most common, athletes will need to learn how their body moves and wear the right shoes and use other injury avoidant footwear to decrease their chances of developing shin splints.
